Roles and Responsibilities

Supports and leads the analysis, structuring, documentation and execution of project finance activities related to specified capital projects;

Participates in the effective solicitation of financing proposals from the marketplace and ensure a fair and comprehensive bidding process;

Manages project finance process and works closely with NJ TRANSIT'S Finance, Capital Programs, Operations and Legal teams (and their external advisors) to bring the transaction to a financial close;

Reviews and negotiates project agreements, financing, joint development and partner agreements;

Performs project-level financial due diligence across various functional groups;

Interacts with other NJ TRANSIT divisions and departments to understand objectives and recognize challenges to be addressed in designing the project financing plan and project Procurement;

Leads and be held accountable for successful transaction closings under tight deadlines;

Accurately models project economics;

Communicates with other NJ TRANSIT departments on transaction details as well as business planning and work processes;

Provides consultative assistance and follow-up services on closed transactions as necessary;

Develops and implements improved financial structures;

Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Qualifications

Minimum:

Minimum: 

Bachelor's degree 

5 years of demonstrated experience in project finance or financial advisory is required

Strong financial modeling, presentation and computer skills

Preferred:

Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related fields

3 years of demonstrated experience with major Transportation-related capital projects

Experience in equity and debt fundraising

Experience with P3 transactions

Experience working with Financial Advisors leading multi-disciplinary teams and complex financial transactions 

Knowledge and Skills

Essential:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills

Experience performing financial modeling and the understanding of financial concepts

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
