Barnes Jewish Hospital has immediate need for a charge sonographer on our ultrasound team.  This team is high volume and performs a variety of procedures using amazing technology.

Role Purpose

 

Performs Diagnostic Ultrasound procedures. Assists staff sonographers in prioritizing and problem solving patient care or imaging issues, and serves as a resource person. Assumes responsibilities of supervisor in their absence. Assists in the development and training of students and new employees.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assists in development, implementation and support of process improvement activities and monitors the success of implementation of new processes or changes.
  • Receives, assesses and handles issues regarding clinical care and customer service.
  • May direct or support the performance initiatives for the department.
  • Assists in the supervision of technical sonographic services and schedules technical staff and support personnel within assigned area.
  • Functions as a lead by maintaining credentials, handling quality assurance activities and auditing cases as assigned.
  • BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs Other Responsibilities as Assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-5 years of experience 
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or equivalent
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Sonography
  • 5-10 years of experience
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification
